A new advertisement for Canadian Tire has gone viral for all the right reasons. It showcases what we, as Canadians, pride ourselves on: sportsmanship and compassion. It is the most uplifting thing you will see all day, and it sure will give you all the feels.
Titled “The Best Of Us Steps Up, Our Nation Stands A Little Taller,” created by Canadian ad agency Clearwater Communications as part of Canadian Tire’s sponsorship of the 2016 Rio Olympics, the video has received millions of views, and continues to garner more.
The video opens up with a group of boys playing basketball. When one boy chases after the ball that has gone astray, he comes across another boy confined to a wheelchair. Later, the boy in the wheelchair finds a basketball sitting on his front porch, and goes out to find the other boys. What he sees will warm you heart: they are playing basketball using their own makeshift wheelschairs. The ad ends with a voiceover of the title, “When the best of us steps up, our nation stands a little taller.”
