The gorgeous Kate Upton is back on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, not once, not twice, but three times, becoming only the fourth woman to do so. In honour of the fact that this is her third time gracing the cover, three different, but equally sexy covers were shot.
Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, and Christie Brinkley have also done the cover three times; Elle Macpherson holds the record with five covers. Brinkley is featured with her daughters in this year’s issue.
Upton expressed her excitement and gratitude on Instagram:
Sports Illustrated helped launch Upton’s career back in 2011 when she was given the title of Rookie of the Year. She then landed the coveted cover in both 2012 and 2013.
She wore an itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-no-polka-dot string-bikini
For the shoot, the 24-year-old dons what has to be the tiniest swimsuit—if you can even call it that—known to humankind. While sexy, it looks more like rope strategically weaved around her curves. Another cover has her topless in gold body jewellery, and in the third she rocks a teensy white bikini bottom with a sequinned jacket, left open of course. Nothing practical here, that’s for sure!
Upton revealed she was this year’s cover choice on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and following that the images were immediately projected onto the Empire State Building in New York. Let’s hope there weren’t too many traffic accidents!
Other mentionable features in the issue include the debut of Olympic gold medal gymnast Simone Biles, former covergirl Chrissy Teigan, and tennis champ Serene Williams.
