The highly-anticipated Ocean’s 8—the all-female spin-off from the Ocean’s 11 franchise—will hit theatres in the U.S. on June 8th, 2018, and Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures have released the first image from the movie.
In this version, the ladies are attempting to pull of “the heist of the century” at the famous Met Gala, which explains the high-fashion garb.
For those of you who don’t know what the Met Gala is, it’s the annual event thrown by Anna Wintour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Many celebrities and high-profile people attend.
Sandra Bullock plays Debbie Ocean, who’s speculated to be Danny Ocean’s younger sister. Her crew is comprised of Lou (Cate Blanchett), Nine Ball (Rihanna), Amita (Mindy Kaling), Constance (Awkwafina), Rose (Helena Bonham Carter), Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway), and Tammy (Sarah Paulson).
Naturally, there have been some negative nancies reacting to the all-female cast version, but fans are well-versed in their comebacks, as seen on Twitter:
The female version of Ocean’s 11 is Ocean’s 8, because it takes less women to get the job done. pic.twitter.com/oMftrNCQ8N

If a female Ghostbusters ruined your childhood, I can’t wait for Oceans 8 to put you in a coma.

They’re making an all-female Ocean’s 11 spin-off called Ocean’s 8? So women only get 8 oceans for every 11 men get. Typical :\
