The “Notorious” Conor McGregor and the undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather have agreed to terms in what will be the biggest fight in boxing history, according to The Irish Sun.
The fight is said to make over a billion dollars, which would blow any other fight in any sport out of the water. The Sun reports that the terms have been agreed on pending a “third party hold up.” Many believe that third party is the UFC, who currently has Mayweather under contract and are believed to be a big part of negotiations. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before we hear what UFC president Dana White has to say about this as he is always quick to mince words with the media to clear the air. White has shot down the likelihood of a mega fight in the past, saying the chances of it ever happening were the same as him being backup quarterback for Tom Brady.
Apparently, the fight could be announced within two weeks. Writer for Yahoo Sports Chris Mannix has shed light on these claims saying he has spoken directly to a source involved in the process and believes McGregor has no intention on fighting Mayweather, and that all claims that the bout has been agreed on appear premature. He believes this is nothing but another negotiating ploy by McGregor.
Perhaps The Irish Sun has spoken too soon or maybe, just maybe, we will hear an announcement for what will be the greatest fight in boxing history even, if it doesn’t amount to much in the ring since most people believe Mayweather would make quick work of the McGregor. But who knows, maybe McGregor has something left to prove to the world, as he has done time and time again. Regardless, if the fight goes ahead he’s going to make more money than he’s ever made before in his illustrious career.
Our fingers are crossed, hoping there’s some truth to The Irish Suns’ claims; let’s see this mega fight happen!
