In case you were fortunate enough to miss the snoozefest that was the 89th annual Academy Awards Sunday night (Chrissy Teigen was apparently passed out on her husband), you also missed the biggest f*ckup of the night: when Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the wrong winners for Best Picture.
Beatty and Dunaway declared La La Land as the winner, prompting one of the producers, Jordan Horowitz, to begin his acceptance speech while colleagues and cast members celebrated onstage behind him.
But, upon noticing Oscars people in headsets frantically running around, he knew something wasn’t right, and it was quickly discovered that the winner for Best Picture was actually Moonlight when host Jimmy Kimmel ran out to correct the mistake.
Apparently, Beatty was handed the wrong envelope, and it was no joke. #Envelopegate
Obviously, social media is having a field day with this.
Here are the best reactions to the Oscars f*ckup:

This is the biggest plot twist I’ve witnessed since Ross mistakenly said Rachel’s name instead of Emily’s.#Oscars

Hollywood madness, the Oscars ceremony ran almost 4 hours — 3.5 of that boring. The best picture screw up might have been karma. -BO’R
